Skills for Successful Life

A successful footballer has mastered certain skills, both on and off the football field. Likewise, a successful Politician has mastered certain skills both on and off the office. In the same manner, a successful Boxer, Entertainer, Business Person, Entrepreneur etc they all have mastered certain skills both on and off their field of expertise.

This writ is an attempt to shortlist the half dozen skills successful people have in common in an attempt to decode their success

What is a skill - knowledge plus ability equals skill, put in a proportion that brings competence. We learn the skills they have in common irrespective of their fields of expertise.

In no particular order, here are the skills that you will need to master, if you are to raise to the top of your game and lead your field:

One_Goal Setting – we all have limited resources at our disposal, especially time, thus it is of utmost important to know how we ought to assign our resources to what matters most and what will have greatest impact.

Two_Time Management - you are either on the way or in the way, you will need to have pre-set goals, priorities and established discipline if you are to raise above average. Time is well spent if effectively spent on a preset aim.

Three_Money Management - time is money and money is time, as we plan, budget, set priorities we must also have discipline to follow through. Money, like time, if not assigned a specific task before is acquired, it slips between our fingers.

Four_People Management – people if one of the greatest asset in any undertaking, if we learn how to influence them to willingly cooperate with our goals as opposed to forceful control. People are more productive|creative in cooperation than in duress.

Five_Information Management - we are bombarded with information every second, to be successful we must master the skills to separate wheat from chaff. We must decide what to tune into and what to ignore and let go.

Six_Stakeholders Management – whether you are employed, self-employed, entrepreneur or investor, there are people and organization whose interest is your business, take care of them closely, do you have skills to manage their expectations?

Seven_Failure Management - everyone who has ever done anything worthwhile has failed at some point, the key is to learn how to survive failure. Failing is not a problem or an issue, but are able to raise up from your failure?
